I personally keep my hair rather short - as it looks incredibly odd when it's
long, like a cross between an afro and a mohawk. In an un/semirelated aspect
though, I prefer to observe other people
having long hair - especially those of the feminine gender. Just me?
madlax / NOIR - because Kajiura Yuki writes simply awesome music.
Air TV - because both the vocal and the BGM for this (taken directly from the
game) are incredible. Just listen to Aozora and see if I'm right.
There's more... but those are probable the absolute best.
Kiminozo is one of my favourite anime... truly a beautiful show. One of two that
I am almost sure will never get licensed, and that I would pay for in blood if
they were.
Right now? Air. I will kill for this show on subtitled DVDs. I will buy a BluRay
player if this is released as a HDTV disc, simply to watch this show. Air is
godly.
Otherwise? Oh, lots of things. Haibane Renmei, Ah! My Goddess, Eva, flcl, Kanon,
Last Exile, Witch Hunter Robin....
Quote by Kei-kunActually I really think
A!MG TV is the anime title to obtain the earliest license.
I.e. Ah! My Goddess TV is the anime which got licensed the earliest in all
history of anime.
Not if you count Ninja Scroll tv... I believe that the licensee actually
financed production as well. In fact, a lot of shows are now prelicensed, from
what the various license companies say; as in licensed before they even air in
Japan - they just tend to wait for 'big events' to make announcements.
It's a pity that Solar have stopped subbing the show, but I least there's still
AonE/Ayuki. They'll have to do until we get DVDs.
I only watched the dubs for the OVA's for a little bit, and not much of the dub
for the movie either. Having set that, I preferred the OVA cast, but then, as I
watch 99% of anime in Japanese, it really doesn't bother me - although I would
prefer that they get one of the two casts back, so as to keep the A!MG dub fans
happy
God yes. If you haven't heard it, kill for the -eternal promise- version, it was
rerecorded by Yui Horie for her debut album. It's even better than the in-Anime
version
Otherwise... this hasn't actually appeared in the anime, technically, but based
on the song and what it will/does represent - Aozora (by Lia) from AIR TV. Just
wait and see. ^^
It's a pity Madman haven't gotten into the OST game yet - albeit they might be,
with the OST bundle for Full Metal Alchemist. Be that as it may, if you are
ordering online, I assume you're aware of http://www.cdpacific.com/ ? Being as their
prices are eminently reasonable as an import option... depending on the markup
you're trying to make, of course ^_^
Yes, Kanon and AIR are both based on (ero)games by Key. And they are both
beautiful shows - Kanon is a wonderful series to watch, both a joy and a sadness
to see. I might watch it again, actually... I've never watched it from episode 1
through to Kazehana before, so it might be fun to do. ^^
You can also get Kanon at Boxtorrents - I'm not sure whether AnimeSuki has the
Kazehana episode or not.
Quote by Kei-kunWell, yes so far... I
think AIR. But Ah! My Goddess is also looking
rather nice. Ah! My Goddess TV started out with a bit of inconsistent
artwork though, like changes in appearances and drawings of characters
throughout the anime. Perhaps I'm just not used to it yet.
But the one that is looking to be the one to grab the title "Anime of
the Year 2005", is currently AIR. Ah! My Goddess however, may catch
up.
From what I've read on the forums over at AnimeSuki, apparently the Art Director
for Ah My Goddess wasn't actually involved with the production of episode 2, in
particular - which could explain the changing face, as it were, of Belldandy.
Still, AMG does look very nice indeed, and I am enjoying it the most (I am also
watching Negima, which is a little... less... than best animation material ) but AIR
still just looks so much better.
Hrm. In terms of visuals/animation, the best opening sequence(s) are those of
Last Exile (Cloud Age Symphony by Okino Shuntaro) and (at the moment) AIR TV
(Tori no Uta by Lia from i've). In terms of both music and animation in a
complimentary sense, then Ah! Megami-sama TV (Open Your Mind - Youko Ishida) and
Neon Genesis Evangelion (Zankoku na Tenshi no Teze - Yoko Takahashi). In terms
of primarily music, then madlax (Hitomi no Kakera by FictionJunction yuuka)
and, again, AMGTV.
Also fond of Witch Hunter Robin, Fruits Basket, Kanon, Hellsing... etc.
^^
What do you people think? Which anime, out of those that have started showing on
TV in Japan since the first of January 2005, has the best animation, the best
drawing - which one looks the best?
For me, it has to be AIR. Everytime I watch an episode, I can't help but think
it's an OVA I'm watching, not a TV series. It's that beautiful.
I have a fascination with Singapore... don't know why, haven't been there in
over fifteen years and have no memories of it, but for some reason I'd like to
visit there, perhaps live there. I'm also rather partial to the old Country
(being Britain) and more specifically to Wales, but then... well, who knows?
i don't think I'd like to live in Japan. Visit, sure, live - not really.
Haruko looks far too young, realistically, to have a 16 year old daughter. Still
- some people do look young, but then her figure, and her face, seem to say
otherwise.
Yes, you can. If you're running OSX, it's easy. Just install the drive normally
and format it in Disk Utility for HFS+ or UFS. In OS9, it's a bit harder, but
you should still be able to read and format the drive using Drive Setup. This is
assuming you've got a secondary drive bay of course - otherwise you'll need to
boot off a system CD. ^^
The only specific Mac components nowadays are the processors and motherboards -
and some graphics cards. RAM, HDD, PCI cards etc - almost everything will work.
@Kei: it's quite interesting, as I stated. I never really thought much about the
sharing of files and the rather obvious (in hindsight), and incredibly huge
networks that must exist for sharing
technologies such as P2P to be even remotely successful at swapping illegal
files. Even for bittorrent, where the accessibility of the file is more
widespread, they still have to come from some initial source. The part about the
half life 2 code was also fascinating, as were the interview-like segments with
various insiders...as I stated, an illuminating and engrossing read.
@Celessa: Indeed so. But that's part and parcel of most online communities -
you've got a thin layer of the 'older' - or perhaps 'maturer' - types, who are
often surrounded by masses of younger and oftentimes less mature children. I
used to use IRC a lot, a couple of years back. Now, I almost can't stand it -
I've watched, over my time as a net user, the rise of l33tspeak, and the use of
AOL-isms; and I've hated every minute of it. Sure, I sometimes use them now as
they're passing into more common language, but ultimately, I'm a purist about
language. Guess it shows sometimes. ^_^
Anything Kajiura Yuki. Also quite fond of Kanno Yoko, and the Evangelion
orchestral music by Sagisu Shiroh. Witch Hunter Robin (Iwasaki Taku) also has
some wonderful tracks, notable 'Allay Pain,' and I love what Otani Ko did with
Haibane Renmei.
Mm. Well, I think that *my* avatar is nice and smiling like. I mean, it's
MiniBell! Isn't she adorable?
Interesting psychological question there, Kei. Does it mean something, wonders
I, about the state of the mentality of people here at the forums.. or are we
reading too much into this? ^^
Nothing is really private, especially on the 'net. Fine and dandy - if you keep
an online journal, don't expect it to remain private. For that matter, don't
really expect your email or any communications on the net to be completely
private - if it's sent through your ISP, your ISP can monitor it. Privacy and
ethics considerations? Sure, they're there - but how comfortable do they make
you anyway?
As for myself, yes, I do keep an online journal. Do I post incredibly
incriminating stuff in there that I don't want people to read? Not really. I
write it for people *to* read, as such, I'm rather careful about what I do write
in it. However, I also keep a pen and paper journal in a book, which I write in
less frequently, that deals with all the private stuff. Would it mortify me if
someone went and found my online diary, specifically a family member? Well,
there might abe a few questions asked, but nothing incredibly difficult. My
paper one? Well - yes, and no. No in that it's a truthful (as far as it can be)
book, and yes in that it's not really intended for public consumption, and would
probably be less than desirable for many to read it. Can people read said book?
Yes. If they go into my room and find it, they can. Will they? Perhaps. What
will I do in that event? We'll see.
Privacy is never really private. But then, it depends on what you're keeping
private... just always keep in mind that a secret two people know is not a
secret.
